Female Nude III (1972) is an early R.C. Gorman stone lithograph depicting a standing female nude in a dramatic, expressive pose. The figure turns slightly in profile, one hand lifted near her shoulder, while a mass of long dark hair flows around her head and upper body in energetic, layered strokes. Gorman contrasts the dense, animated handling of the hair with the spare contour lines that define the torso, hips, and legs, creating a striking balance between movement and restraint. The monochrome palette and open areas of untouched paper give the composition the immediacy of a spontaneous figure study. Produced in an edition of only 30, Female Nude III is a scarce example of Gorman’s early figurative work and a compelling addition for collectors of nude studies, limited-edition lithographs, and expressive works on paper.
