R.C. Gorman created Winonna in 1985 in an edition of 150 — a papercast from the gallery’s collection. Gorman’s papercasts build his imagery in layered, cast paper — a relief medium whose soft shadows give the work a gentle, sculptural depth.
Like the rest of the gallery’s holdings, this work reflects Gorman’s devotion to the Native American women and Southwest landscapes that made his name. Papercasts show to advantage under raking light, where the layered relief throws soft shadows across the surface. A strong addition to collections of Native American fine art, papercast work, and the art of the Southwest.
The gallery ships with care and can provide further photographs and condition details for this piece on request.
